How to migrate data from Windows XP to Windows 7

Guidelines and items you need in order to transfer user’s data files from Win XP onto Win 7 systems.
- USB External Hard Drive (1TB)
Create directory for the user - Install software (wet7_x86) onto the Windows XP system
- Transfer rate, depends on how much data user have
- Verify by accessing report to make sure what was copied when the transfer is completed
Install missing software, when necessary - Coordinate with user when to swap systems
- Update Inventory database and on Active Directory accordingly
We use Windows Easy Transfer and install the software in Windows XP in order to transfer user’s settings.
Prior to copying the user’s settings the source computer should be running exceptionally free from malware, viruses, corrupted profiles, etc…
You have successfully migrated the user’s settings onto the new target computer. Well done!
